How do I add The PM PrepCast to my iPhone / iPad?

Follow

Both the iPhone and iPad have iTunes "mobile" installed. This version of iTunes has fewer features than the desktop version. One feature that is missing is "Advanced > Subscribe to Podcast". This unfortunately means, that there is no direct way to add The PM PrepCast to your iPhone or iPad.

Therefore, you must first download the PrepCast to your desktop computer using iTunes and then sync it to your iPhone / iPad.

Please watch this video here to see how it's done: http://www.pmhelpdesk.com/entries/99785-how-do-i-add-the-pm-prepcast-to-itunes - once you have the PrepCast downloaded simply connect your iPhone / iPad to your computer and the PrepCast will be copied over.

We are sorry about this inconvenience. This is a restriction that is imposed on you by Apple and there is unfortunately nothing that we can do about it.

Updates:

For iOS5 and below:

Videos from a podcast are no longer accessible via Music > Videos. Instead you now have to launch the "Videos" application. The PM Podcast only has a few video episodes, but in order to find them please go to the home screen of your iPhone / iPad and click on "Videos". You will now find the video episodes in here.

For iOS6:

You can now find all podcast including PrepCast, PM Podcast, PDU Podcast video webinars in iOS6 application and can directly play them from here. Note that this application comes pre-installed on new IOS6 devices but you have to manually install it if you upgrade from a previous version.

Sync default is: OFF

Per default, the podcast sync feature in iTunes is turned OFF, which means that the podcasts will not be synced, when you plug in your device.  Here is how to turn it on:

  • Start iTunes on your PC and connect your device (iPod, iPad, iPhone)
  • For iTunes 11 and above: Select View > Show Sidebar, where you can see the list of devices
  • Click on your device in the sidebar
  • Look for the device menu at the top center (You'll see Summary,  Info, Apps, etc.)
  • Click on "Podcasts"
  • Check the box for Sync Podcasts and select what you want to sync
  • Click Apply at the bottom right

You have to repeat these steps for all of your devices (iPod, iPad, iPhone) in order to sync podcasts to the device

Hi - I've paid for the prepcast package and can access them via iTunes on my computer. However, how do I access the episodes on my iPhone? I have iOS6, can find the free podcasts, but not the purchased ones. Thanks!

See the update above on iOS6. Does this still mean that there's no direct way to download podcasts to iPhone?

Hi I have the same problem.  I downloaded the episodes into my laptop itunes, But it won't copy to my iphone 4.  I also tried dragging the files to my iphone, and it didn't  work.  I also try to look for the podcast through my iphone, but I'm unable to find the PM Prepcast (high resolution), which is required to download the material through my phone instead of my laptop.

Fan, I found the way to do it.  After you plug in your phone.  From the may itunes screen, on the right side of the screen, not the left menu, select podcast.  From there you can sync all the podcast you have in your laptop to your iphone.

Also unable to sync iPad or iPod with itunes prepcast.  Using 6.1.3 version.  Some of the episodes sync others do not.  Some are in video others are not.  The majority of episodes are not.  I have downloaded all episodes to the iTunes library.   Can play from Library but will not sync to iPad.  Surprised there are not more comments on this.

Ted, the reason why there are not more comments about this here is because what you are seeing is simply not the normal behavior. The PrepCast video lessons have been tested for iPad, iPhone and iPod. In fact, as soon as a new lessons was produced and released I tested them by downloading & synching to all my personal devices as part of quality control. So the fact that you are not able to synch them over is quite unusual (and most likely a question of settings in iTunes/iPad).

My recommendation: First plug in your iPad and then click on it in iTunes and check your settings. If you cannot resolve it, please take a couple of screenshots of what you see in your iTunes (both settings and lessons) and send them to our support@pm-prepcast.com support address. The support team can then see exactly what you see and in this way hopefully figure out what is wrong and assist.
